The right banknote sorter is determined by the operating flow, not the largest speed number. Start with daily and peak volume, denomination mix, note condition, batch rules, reject handling, fitness policy, serial requirements, staffing, and the reporting output that downstream systems need.
Manufacturer-rated speed is a controlled specification. Effective throughput also depends on feeding, pocket capacity, stop frequency, rejects, batch changes, operator intervention, and circulated-note quality. Ask suppliers to demonstrate the exact configuration using a representative note mix and record the complete cycle, not only the transport speed.
Authentication, fitness, and audit capabilities must be evaluated separately. Confirm the exact sensor configuration, supported currency and series, tested-machine status where applicable, firmware version, fitness parameters, pocket assignment, serial capture, and suspect-note workflow. ECB information should be checked against the current model and test period.
The commercial comparison should include site preparation, integration, training, consumables, preventive maintenance, spare-part availability, software updates, denomination support, and service response. Use an acceptance plan with agreed test decks, throughput conditions, error handling, reports, and sign-off owners before purchase.
